Digital Photography gave rise to a rebirth
While in Afghanistan, one of the British Anesthesiologists took some amazing black and white photographs of the staff assigned to the UK Role III Hospital in Bastion, Helmand Province. Appreciating his creative use of natural light, I found myself studying what it was about each of his pictures that made it standout from the many snapshots the rest of us captured to document our time in the ‘stan.
Having volunteered for a follow on assignment to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, I looked forward to being able to travel the sites of western Europe. Joining American Photographers in Europe, I got to see images captured by fellow service members and their family members and became inspired by the images they captured and the artistic creativity afforded by digital photography.
